The Haunt in Atascadero is powered by an incredible team of volunteers who bring their passion for Halloween, creativity, and community spirit to life. From designing jaw-dropping sets to delivering spine-tingling scares, the Scream Team makes it all happen!

Katie “KD” Dawson is the heartbeat in the dark corridors of The Haunt. As Assistant Volunteer Coordinator, she helps guide the Scream Team with a steady hand and a sharp instinct for what makes a great scare. Whether she’s organizing actors, supporting volunteers, or stepping into the shadows herself, KD ensures the chaos runs smoothly.
But her influence doesn’t stop there—KD is also one of the creative forces behind our creature transformations. As a skilled makeup artist and scare actor, she crafts the faces of nightmares and then becomes one. Her blend of organization, artistry, and pure haunt energy makes her an essential part of the leadership team and one of the minds that keeps The Haunt screaming to life each season.
